About Burundi
Burundi is one of the world's poorest nations and is now rebuilding following civil war since 1972.

Burundi has an estimated population of around 8 million, approximately half of whom are aged 14 or less. The effects of AIDS and cival war has had a significant effect on the demographics of the country.

There is now peace since elections in 2005, but the country still faces the formidable challenges of reviving a shattered economy and of forging national unity with up to 500,000 refugees now returning from camps in Tanzania and Kenya.

Home for Christmas

We are home over Christmas to visit with family and friends and will return to Burundi on the 3rd of January 2009.

It has been an amazing time for all concerned. Although we are looking forward to seeing our friends and family again we also look forward to returning to Burundi to finish this project.

We have been so blessed with how so many of you have responded to this work. There will be no more pictures or updates on this site until we return to Burundi.

In the mean time I have left my camera with pastor Leonard as he will take pictures of the children on Christmas day at the Hope Centre site. We would have loved to have been there.

Please keep us as a family and all the children of Hope Centre, along with all the workers for Hope Centre in your prayers and have a great Christmas and New Year when it arrives. [smiley=beer.gif]
